Rachel Mackie reported in the Edinburgh News that Edinburgh Police this week announced the theft of a painting by 19th century Scottish artist John Faed on January 29, 2020. The painting, likely valued in the £2,000 - £3,000 range, was stolen from a residential property. From an investigatory standpoint, the timing of the release is curious. A four-month gap between a crime and a plea for the public's help is unusual. It's unclear as to the reason for the delay. Could it be that the police weren't notified until last week? Might they have had a lead that they pursued over these months that didn't pan out? In any event, those with information are urged to contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111. They may do so anonymously.
